About the Mission

Ambassador’s Greetings

  1. About the Mission
  2. Ambassador’s Greetings

Namaste,
Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

Nepal is a landlocked country located in the Himalayan Mountains in South Asia. It boasts a beautiful natural environment and world cultural heritage sites such as Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1974, the Republic of Korea and Nepal have maintained active exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including development, economy, and culture, based on vigorous people-to-people exchanges. Since the introduction of the EPS (Employment Permit System) in Nepal in 2007, more than 100,000 Nepalese workers have contributed to Korea's economy, and around 30,000 Korean tourists visit Nepal annually for trekking, Buddhist pilgrimage, and other activities.

Furthermore, Nepal, set to graduate from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status in 2026, is one of Korea's key partner countries for grant and loan assistance. KOICA and numerous NGOs have been instrumental in Nepal's development, while Korean companies have expanded their participation and investment in infrastructure projects such as hydropower plants, roads, and the manufacturing industry, including automobiles and electronic appliances. Interest in Korean culture, including K-pop, K-drama, and Korean language education, is also on the rise in Nepal.

The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Nepal. On this occasion, to further strengthen friendship and cooperation, the Embassy will continue its efforts in various fields, including economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

For the continued development of bilateral relations and the Embassy's enhanced contribution, we would greatly appreciate your unwavering support and invaluable advice.

Thank you.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea PARK, Tae-Young, and the team of the Embassy
